Trends & Seasonal Peaks for Automotive in 2022

As we head further into 2023, we thought it would be fitting to take a look back at the trends and search peaks in the automotive industry in 2022. 

Before we dive into the data, let’s start with an explanation of search trends:

A search trend refers to a pattern of search queries on a specific topic over a period of time. It can refer to the volume of searches for a particular term, phrase, or topic, as well as the relative popularity of that term or topic compared to others. Search trends can be used to identify patterns and changes in the way people are searching for information, and can provide insights into what topics and issues are most important to people at a given time.

For this article, we will be using Google Trends and looking at the top search keywords for Rockar and see how the search changes through a 12 month period. 

The top non-brand keyword in Search Console was “Part Exchange”. 

As you can see from the graph below the phrase receives traffic all year round, but there is a big dip during the end of November and the beginning of December.

The second most popular keyword was “Approved Used”

Again from the graph, you can see that the interest for this keyword is all year round. This phrase seems to have had a more consistent level of interest over the year, but has a spike in December. 

Third in the non brand keyword phrases was “Diesel Vs Petrol”

This is the first keyword phrase that we have looked at that hasn’t received traffic all through the year. There was a peak at the end of March, this fits with then the fuel prices were reported to be the highest for 2022. 

The final phrase we are going to look at for this article is “Black Friday Deals” 

It might not be that surprising to see that the peak for this phrase was during November. As this is actually when Black Friday happens. What is quite surprising is that there are a few searches all through the year. 

So, what can we use this information for? 

Search trends can provide valuable insights , by monitoring search trends, you can identify popular products, services or keywords related to your business. This information can help make informed decisions on how to better target marketing efforts and improve online visibility.

Search trends can also provide an indication of the level of interest in a particular product or service, which can be useful when assessing the potential success of a new product or service launch. Additionally, search trends can reveal emerging trends in the industry, which can help you stay ahead of the curve and adapt to changes in consumer preferences.
